1. Introduction
In this document, the carry forward function is described with its rules and restrictions. The Carry Forward function is a copy function which allows applicants to copy their dossiers to the next timetable period and to support applicants NOT to create their path request from scratch.
Further information on where is the function located or how you carry forward works is described in another document.
2. Process type restrictions
The following process types are not supported to carry forward:
- Path Alteration
- Path Modification
- Feasibility Study
3. Wizard steps:
It consists of 4 steps:
- Intro step – mandatory step, the carry-forward wizard starts with the advanced search to select a dossier or dossiers
- IM Parameters: optional step
- Operation Points – optional step
- Loco Types – optional step
- Finish – mandatory step, press finish to start the carry forward process in the background
4. Rules
The following rules apply on carry forward.
4.1 General rules
- Carry forward the Applicant/ IM timetable
- Carry forward to the Open/Harmonization phases
- Comments, Connections, links and attachments cannot carry forward
- Carry forward is possible only for timetables that are opened for the creation of new dossiers
- If the original dossier contains PaP, during carry forward action the PaP details are removed. That means that the system removes the PaP identifiers and parameter value limits, and all fields from the original PaP will be shown as normal tailor-made locations
- The calendar is copied but no adjustments are made. So, the operation days have to be checked because of the various durations of particular timetable periods and various conditions (e.g. variable public holidays)
4.2 Search function
The search function is available for the following user roles:
- RUs: for New/Late/Adhoc dossiers which are NOT in Open, Harmonization, Path Request, or Closed phases.
- IMs: for CT dossiers which are not in Open (CT), Closed (CT) phases
- COSSs: for RFC dossiers which are not in Open (PaP), Path Elaboration (PaP), Closed (PaP) phases
4.3 Mapping services
The mapping works automatically if the matching is found. If the matching is not found the system offers a view where users should choose to replace with the operation point, loco types, activity types and train compositions.
- Map activity types: it is mandatory to replace all invalid activity types when using the function
- Map operation points: it is mandatory to replace all invalid operation points when using the function
- Map loco types: it is mandatory to replace all invalid loco types when using the function
- Map IM parameters: if the matching is not found nothing will be copied over to the new dossier(s)
- Map train composition: if there are invalid operation points in the “From” and “To” fields they will be replaced with valid ones once PCS detects invalid operation points
Please note If a new IM-specific parameter is introduced by the IM, PCS will ask for the parameter value during the carry forward in the case of a new dossier-level parameter (or have to be added later at the path section level). The leading applicant should not fill the IM-specific parameters fields that belong to other Applicant-IM pairs. However, the leading applicant can edit/save the dossier even if the IM-specific parameters of the others are not yet fulfilled.
5. Bulk
The bulk function is available to carry forward large numbers of dossiers easily and quickly. In the intro step applicants can select multiple dossiers to carry forward.
